Golden Globes Awards

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler!  Yay!  I’m really excited about having them as hosts…I hope they live up to it.

Again, Tina looks beautiful.  I’m a little undecided about Amy’s dress.

Oh, Amy just dissed James Cameron BIG time…”I haven’t been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the woman who was married to James Cameron for 3 years.”  Snap!

To Anne Hathaway re: her Les Miz performance:  “”Anne Hathaway, I have not seen anyone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars.”

Okay, Tina and Amy are killing it!

“Quentin Tarantino is here…the star of all my sexual nightmares.”

I love that they’re poking fun, without being mean and cruel.  That’s the way it needs to be done.

Bradley Cooper and Kate Hudson are first up to present an award.  Oh, look at the pretty people!

Supporting Actor in a Movie:  Christoph Waltz

Django Unchained is not a movie I plan to see…don’t like that genre.  Don’t like Tarantino.  But, I’m happy for Christoph.  He always seems truly surprised and humble and appreciative.  He gives a good acceptance speech.

Kerry Washington and Dennis Quaid are onstage to present the next ward.

Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV:  Maggie Smith

Again, another show that I don’t watch.  Though I think I might have to at some point – so many people love it.

Eva Longoria and Don Cheedle introduce Mr and Ms Golden Globes.  Daughter of Francis Fisher and son of Michael J Fox.

Next award is for Best Mini-Series or TV Movie:  Game Change

Didn’t see it.  Didn’t know when it was on.  I’m so bad at the TV stuff, really.  I just don’t watch that much TV.  Strange since I like these awards so much.

Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie: Julianne Moore

Okay, the best part about that was Amy Poehler filling Julianne’s seat while she was back stage.

Catherine Zeta-Jones onstage to introduce Les Miserable as a nominee for Best Picture.  She did a bit of singing…she shouldn’t have.  And she really needed to rethink what she’s wearing.  She looks so much better in dark colors.

President of the HFPA is speaking…didn’t catch her name.  But she’s at least more humorous than previous presidents.  “Let me say three little words to Bradley Cooper…’Call me, maybe’?” Nice.

Salma Hayek and Paul Rudd are here to present the next awards.  Selma looks great!

Best Actor TV Series Drama:  Damian Lewis

Another show (Homeland) that I haven’t watched, but apparently need to see.  Nice to see that he’s won an award for the show, thought.  He gives a really nice speech.  Plus, love the accent!

Okay, now I really have to watch this show.  How many times has it won awards?  yeah, need to watch.  oh, and look at Claire. Gorgeous!

Now John Goodman and Tony Mendez introducing Argo.  Tony Mendez is the actual CIA agent.  He needs to learn how to speak into a microphone and read a teleprompter, however.  Poor guy.  He’s nervous.

Best Original Score:  Michael Dyanna (Life of Pi)

Original Song – Motion Picture:  Skyfall

So glad that won!  Not because I love Adele,  but because it’s such a fucking awesome song…it  brought Bond back!  Plus, I love listening to Adele give acceptance speeches.

Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for TV:  Kevin Costner

Wow. Costner winning an acting award.  Never thought I would see that day.  I mean, he’s not bad, but I’ve never seen him in an award worthy role.  I guess Hatfields and McCoys must have been pretty good.  He gives a pretty boring speech though.

Bill Clinton is on stage.  Really?  Why?  Nothing against the guy, but what does he have to do with this?  Oh, I get it…he’s introducing Best Picture nominee, Lincoln.  Okay, I’ll buy it.

Amy Poehler is back.  “That was Hilary Clinton’s husband!”  Perfect!!

Will Ferrel and Kristen Wiig are onstage now to present.  Kristen looks very sexy.  Even with that dopey smile. LOL  They are HILARIOUS!!!!  OMG.  I’m dying laughing.

Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical:  Jennifer Lawrence

“What does it say?  ‘I beat Meryl!'”  OMG!  Funny.  Only JLaw could get away with that.  Nice speech…heartfelt and humorous.  I’m still not a huge fan of her dress though.

Best Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Movie for TV:  Ed Harris

Game Change is really bringing in the awards!

Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture:  Anne Hathaway

Okay, who didn’t see that one coming?  She was a lock from the beginning.  But, so deserved.  She won that award with just one scene.  An endearing speech.  And she looks beautiful.

Robert Pattison and Amanda Seyfried to present an award. Oh look at the pretty people!  Too bad neither really has a personality up there.

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture:  Quentin Tarantino

Honestly, I don’t understand the fascination with this guy’s work.  I’ve seen his movies and I don’t think they are that spectacular.  But, there must be something I don’t know, because so many people like him.

Jeremy Irons (who is fabulous) is onstage to introduce Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.  I saw that one…I really liked it.  And not just because of Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor.

Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical:  Don Cheadle

Okay, I’m glad.  I don’t watch any of those shows, but I’ve always liked Don Cheadle.

Sylvester Stallone and Ah-nold to present an award.  And having a good time.  Of course, teasing each other about who speaks better English. LOL

Best Foreign Film:  Amour

Kind of figured that one would win.  I need to see that one.

Best Actress in a TV Series – Drama:  Claire Danes

Oh, how wonderful.  We get to look at Claire and listen to her talk for a bit.  I think she’s undefeated – if she’s been nominated, she’s won.  That’s quite the track record.  Her first win was when she was 15!  Golden Globe winner at 15 years old…I feel inadequate.

Sasha Baron Cohen – who I really don’t like – to present an award.  I really don’t like this guy.

Best Animated Feature Film:  Brave

I haven’t seen any of the animated features this year, though I do want to see Brave.  It just looks like fun.  Though, seriously, didn’t every animated feature film made this year get a nomination?  Can’t be hard to get a nomination in animated feature film.

Liev Schrieber (aka Mr Naomi Watts) to introduce Life of Pi as best picture nominee.

Jason Bateman and Aziz Ansari to present an award.  Jason Bateman aged well.

Best Actress in a TV Comedy/Musical:  Lena Dunham

Wow.  Didn’t expect that one…she was up again some powerhouse nominees in that category.  I don’t think she expected it either.  But, seriously, if girlfriend can’t walk in the shoes, she probably shouldn’t wear them.

LOL Tina and Amy are cracking me up again.  Tina just TAGGED Taylor Swift.  Too funny!  “Stay away from Michael J Fox’s son.”

Robert Downey Jr is presenting the award to Jodie Foster (Cecil B DeMille award).

Jodie Foster is another woman who has aged so damned beautifully.  She gets better looking every.single.day.

Jodie Foster is SINGLE!!!!

She’s making an issue of her “coming out” – but not really coming out – but sort of coming out.

I’m disappointed in Jodie’s acceptance speech.  It seems all over the place…in coherent.  She was going for jokes that just weren’t funny.  She was making non-statements that were statements about making non-statements.  I really expected so much more from her.  Sad.

Halle Berry is onstage to present an award….in a really strange dress.

Best Director:  Ben Affleck

Take that Oscars!!  Wow.  What amazing vindication for Ben.  I adore that look of love on Jennifer’s face.  So nice.

Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical:  Girls

Wow.  This is quite the night for Lena Dunham!  She beat out some WHOPPER shows!  Of course, she’s still having trouble walking in those shoes.  Maybe you should just take them off, Lena.

Okay, there’s only 30 scheduled minutes remaining in the broadcast…will they be able to get everything in without going over?  Hmmmm.

Christian Bale is onstage to introduce Silver Linings Playbook.  (One of my favorite movies of 2012.)

Jennifer Garner – looking wonderful – comes onstage to thank a couple of people for Ben.  How cute.  But, Jennifer is there to present an award!

Best Actor, Comedy/Musical:  Hugh Jackman

Well, I saw that one coming.  sort of a given.  His performance was amazing.  But, poor Bradley…he looks a little dejected.  Hugh did a really nice job in Les Miz…it was a power performance.  And he is giving a nice speech….and a nice story about his wife convincing him that he was right for the role.  Sweet.

Jeremy Renner onstage to introduce Zero Dark Thirty.  I believe he said something that he really shouldn’t have said – sound went out and people looked shocked.

Dustin Hoffman (a director) is there to present the award for Movie Comedy/Musical.

Best Movie Comedy/Musical:  Les Miserables

Okay, there’s another one that I totally saw coming.  not totally sure if I agree with it, but it IS a great film.  Actually, they were all great nominated movies…so it’s all good.  They’re really shortening the speeches, aren’t they?

“Middle Aged” George Clooney is there to present an award…and tease Ben about forgetting to thank him.

Best Actress in a Drama:  Jessica Chastain

Oh, I’m so damned glad.  That was a powerhouse of a performance.  And her reaction is absolutely fantastic.  Her speech is so emotional and heartfelt.  I love her excitement.  And she can say, “I beat Helen Mirren!”

Best Actor in a Drama:  Daniel Day Lewis

Well, there’s another no-brainer.  He’ll get the Oscar too.  At least he’s giving a better speech tonight than he did at the Critics’ Choice Awards.  But it’s time to stop, Daniel…they’re playing music.

So, I think Daniel Day Lewis and Jessica Chastain should practice their Oscar acceptance speeches.  Everyone else should practice their “it’s an honor to be nominated” sound bites.

Julia Roberts is onstage…looking nice….to present the final award.  (Where has she been, anyway?)

Best Motion Picture – Drama:  Argo

Again, more vindication for Ben Affleck.  That’s 2 director awards and 2 best movie awards.  I wonder if the Academy is feeling a bit sheepish right now about snubbing Mr Affleck.

That’s it.  Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are going home with Jodie Foster…and everyone else is heading to the after parties.
