It’s been a week, hasn’t it? Highs and lows. Depression and anger. Confusion and fear. It’s been a mixed bag for me. For a lot of us. The hits keep coming, too. And, unfortunately, I think they are going to keep coming.
I decided that I needed to take a day, at least, to just turn things off a bit and take care of my own mental well-being. I didn’t turn my social media channels off completely, but I paid attention to only those things that would keep my blood pressure from skyrocketing. I watched Youtube videos of Jennifer Lawrence being her goofy self during interviews. I played Zuma Blitz. I relaxed in my recliner – with my kitties curled up with me – watching Hallmark Christmas movies and Star Wars movies. I had raspberry sherbet for dinner.
I haven’t left the house at all today. My concession to getting dressed was putting on socks because my feet were chilly. Otherwise, I’m still in the shorts and t-shirt that serve as my pajamas. I had “Alexa” play some music from one of my playlists and I shimmied around the kitchen – sliding on the hardwood floors.
I took a break from my “time out” to write this blog post. I’d considered skipping it, but I made a commitment to write a blog post every day in November. So, I’m honoring that commitment.
Now maybe I’ll go watch Ghostbusters again. “You just got Holtzmanned, baby!”
